Start with what you actually do online

Download speed describes how quickly data reaches your browser. Upload speed describes how quickly it travels the other way. They matter when downloading a game, backing up photos, or sending video during a call. A high download number alone does not describe the whole connection.

Responsiveness is a different measurement

Latency is the time a small web request takes to travel to the test network and return. Jitter describes variation between consecutive response times. Lower, steadier response times are useful for interactive activities. The destination matters: our test is not a measurement to your game server.

Look at what happens under load

Compare idle latency with latency measured during download and upload. If response times rise significantly, background transfers could interfere with interactive activities. Pause a large upload and repeat the test in the same mode to investigate.

Treat one result as a snapshot

Wi-Fi conditions, other devices, the route, and the test server can affect a result. Use the same device and test mode for a comparison. A shorter data-saving test can underestimate the capacity of a fast connection. Missing measurements mean not measured, never zero.

Our suitability labels are preliminary rules, not a guarantee that every app will work well. Interrupted tests do not get a positive usage assessment. Coverage describes available samples, not certified accuracy. Packet loss is not measured in this version.
